Details from the Synaptic installation include:
The provided postinst hook script [/sbin/update-grub] could not be run.

I have upgraded my system to use Grub 2.x

Creating a symlink from /sbin/update-grub to /usr/sbin/update-grub allows the installation to complete.

The duplicate status is wrong. This particular bug appears to be a duplicate of 385478 or 78478.
