What do you mean with 'keeps running forever' ?
- Synatic keeps on running forever
- dpkg --configure -a keeps on running forever

Also could you append the log of 'dpkg --configure -a' If it really fails for you please? Thank you in advance.

affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) → synaptic (Ubuntu)
Changed in synaptic (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Did you actually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' in a terminal?

Here is what it does. I run dpkg --configure -a, it asks for my password, I write it and then comes this:

Sætter gjdoc(0.7.9.1) op...

Means "setting up gjdoc(0.7.9.1) in Danish.
The cursor is blinking, but nothing happens. If I try to do somethingelse, the screen freezes.

Then I'm out of ideas to be honest. I'll reset the status to new so that somebody else can take over. But I think that synaptic isn't the real cause here.
