Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Right now I'm running Hardy. When I open a folder with icon images in it (.png, .svg with transparency) the small ones are all stretched out of proportion. Plus, they also have an ugly black border around them. I tried changing the dafault icon size in gconf editor but that didn't work. The problem didn't exist with previous releases (dapper to gutsy, nautilus 2.2.4 I think) but has persisted from hardy to jaunty.
To fix the problem myself I tried downgrading to nautilus.2.23.5 by installing from source but got this error instead ;-

undefined reference to `eel_background_save_to_gconf'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[4]: *** [nautilus] Error 1
make[4]: Leaving directory `/home/x/nautilus-2.23.5/src'
make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/x/nautilus-2.23.5/src'
make[2]: *** [all] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/x/nautilus-2.23.5/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/x/nautilus-2.23.5'
make: *** [all] Error 2

To say it's irksome would be putting it mildly.
Please help!!

Sorry I took so long, when I received the notice I mistakenly sent the screenshot to the email reply address.
Yes, I am a noob. Anyway, here's a shot of gutsy without the problem.

Both Intrepid and Hardy had the problem but after an update late July half of it was fixed.
Icons were not stretched anymore but still had the black border.

Now it seems the problem has returned with Karmic Alpha 4.
Hopefully it can be fixed before the final release.
