Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 394467

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Thanks in advance!

I set the privileges to "Read anything" and so I got an error telling me to allow "Change anything". How do I get back to the page which allows me to change the privilege settings?

I am experiencing the same error. I think this is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/397211 as it varies from site to site.

Example: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ detects flash A-OK but Vanguard's website doesn't until I change my user-agent to a "Firefox/3.5" variant from the "Shiretoko/3.5" default.

Example public Vanguard link: https://personal.vanguard.com/us/accounttypes/advice/ATSAdviceOnAssetMgmtContent.jsp

You'll want to subscribe to bug #397211. I can confirm that it is a User Agent issue and I will report it to them.

@Henri De Veene
Are you running a 32 bit system or a 64 bit system?

I'm running 9.04 64 bit.

When I'd compiled 3.5 rc2 myself, the flash/totem plugin worked.

Is this still an issue for anyone with the latest Firefox (3.5.3) and Flash (10.0.32)?

Oh, absolutely. I have not been able to see flash on any site in either 9.04 or now 9.10. I have executed every command in various remedy strings. Usually they just tell you to add mplayer and medibuntu non free etc. I have the libraries etc. I have adobe flash and pdf, but when I try to reload flash from the adobe website, it won't because it says I already have a newer version (than the adobe site?).
here are some remedies I have tried:

http://www.fsdaily.com/Beginner/How_to_make_Ubnutu_9_10_Karmic_Koala_Multimedia_Ready

But, by following thee commands, I lost the ability to see this websites graphics when I returned to it!!

Add to above I have also real player, VLC totem , mPlayer, winff, gnome mplayer...having added all these is there a conflict? should I delete all but one? I need a flash player that works in firefox.
