Bug Description

This is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/89357 opened over 2 years ago.

The partitioner is incredibly slow, because this recalculating partitions step takes 20-30 seconds (esp. for setup with many partitions / big drives).

What is he "calculating" anyway so long?

This is a pain to use that.

Instead, user should just select needed partitions layout, done in memory with no crazy "calculating" - just note the sizes, types, mount points, and then the real slow operation would execute, once.

This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect 394233

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
