Bug Description

Place a huge file on desktop like 2GB video files makes system unusable, nautilus might crash and the right click desktop menu does not popup.

Does this problem persist in Karmic? Kindly test this in karmic and report back,Papercuts are minor issues that exist in Karmic

A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10.

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "incomplete" ONLY in the papercuts project.

This seems to be a genuine bug.

OKay tried a backtrace but nautilus has crashed, seems that working with big files like video can cause a crash, maybe video preview is to be blamed and should have a size limit for preview.

Video thumbnail generation does cause errors when large videos are placed in the desktop. But , it has more to do with the integrity of the video file, type , completion and several factors.

Is this crash for a file already saved or are you having this problem while using bit-torrents> Bug #79030
If it is for the latter the workaround is either turn off thumbnail preview[from Nautilus browser Edit menu> preferences > preview tab] or save the files to folder other than the desktop.

Either way this is not a trivially fixable issue , Hence not a papercut.
