Bug Description

Binary package hint: plasma-widget-network-manager

I often start my computer, log in and than do other stuff (making coffee, ...). When I come back to my computer and enter my password for kwallet (which is needed for wpa-connection via network-manager), the connection is not established. I further cannot establish it manually by clicking on the network in plasma-widget-network-manager and using kwallet, I am ask for the WPA-key (which is of course already stored in kwallet). My WPA-key is randomly generated so I cannot memorize it and my only workaround is to logout and login again and _immediately_ enter my kwallet password.

So this bug is about plasma-widget-network-manager not trying to reconnect to kwallet if needed.

Using Kubuntu 9.04

I think this problem is actually Kwallet, not plasma-widget-network-manager. I don't use NetworkManager at all, but use Kwallet to store my passwords for Kopete, Kmail etc. and experience the same "timeout" if I don't unlock my wallet immediately after login, and can only use the applications by logging out and in again.

affects: plasma-widget-network-manager (Ubuntu) → plasma-widget-networkmanagement (Ubuntu)

An additional workaround to this problem is to run killall kwalletd, then close the programs requiring the password (e.g. NetworkManager) and restart them. Kwallet will then restart and allow you to enter the password without you having to log out.
