Bug Description

It is interesting that the modification date of the file is when it
was uploaded. The images I sent haven't actually been modified in a
year. What's the right way to render that I wonder?

I believe we should try to store the POSIX mtime from the source FS if
at all possible. When I tested the backup exec UNIX/Linux agent, we
could select to store the atime or the mtime.

Regarding my previous reponse:

I believe the UPLOAD time is also relevant, so we should store both that
and the mtime from the original host, and sync the mtime back to any
hosts that are syncing that source. In that way the WEBUI is the only
one for which Upload time would have any relevance (which is as it
should be, IMHO)

Rick: Good points, although a part of me thinks that upload time, when looking locally at folders shared with me, might be interesting or good to know.

jblount has a point WRT addign upload date data to what's displayed in Nautilus. Wouldn't really be possible to display through shell however (without ugly/inadvisable patches).

Cloning this for both projects.

I think we have two different bugs here
1) Modification date on web does not reflect files last modification
2) Modification date on web does not reflect files last modification consistently with client

1) The server wasn't updating the last_modified attribute of the files/directories, this is fixed in the linked branch
2) This need to be handled carefully, if we want to encorage the community to work on porting this to other OS, also this might be a protocol change, and change in the server and model bits, and a change in the client in order to each time it downloads a file change the mtime. I'm not entirely sure if this can explode in a new kind of conflicts, etc.

We shoud discuss about 2) it's a nice feature, but to me looks like a "nice to have" one.

my 2 cents.

Cheers,

P.S: I'll open a bug for 2)
