Bug Description
Here's this scenario:
You install a non-Ehglish version of Ubuntu (e.g. Greek). During installation, Ubuntu adds the related keyboard layout in addition to the standard one (in this case the Greek one) and makes sure that the shortcut for switching layouts is Alt+Shift. However, there is no clue (unless you type something on a text editor) which keyboard layout you are using, unless you add the language applet manually both in GNOME and KDE.

And it should also be possible to change the keyboard layout using a combobox in GDM.
Last time for any reason gdm was changed to arabic and i was not longer able to logon.
