notification for pidgin instant messanger does not disappear after acknoledgement from user

After starting the pidgin instant messenger, a notification appears in the indication applet.

clicking on the notification for pidgin instant messenger, if the pidgin buddy list is not minimized, will minimize the buddy list. If the buddy list is minimized, it will un-minimize the buddy list.

The behaviour I expect is that clicking on the notification for the Pidgin Instant messenger should make the notification go away. Otherwise, there is less change in my panel to indicate that an event has happened while I use pidgin.
