Bug Description

Binary package hint: gcstar

/usr/share/gcstar/lib/GCplugins/GCboardgames/GCboardgamegeek.pm requests BGG return results via, for 'Monopoly', "http://www.boardgamegeek.com/metasearch.php?searchtype=game&search=monopoly&B1=Go" (line 438).

Putting this in a browser returns numerous results, but the script fails to parse them / pass them on correctly (I'm afraid my Perl isn't up to easily spotting which) so gcstar reports zero results.

It also fails when only one result is returned on the full name (try 'Schutztruppe' - it took a while to find a request that would only return one result) or partial name (try 'Foxbat').

Bug is also present in 1.4.3, latest version available on gcstar.org where this is a reported bug (see "http://forums.gcstar.org/viewtopic.php?id=988").

This is still present in the Ubuntu 9.10 version (1.4.3) which also has problems with getting movie info from imdb and Amazon (US).

The now current version on gcstar.org (1.5.0 beta 1) does get some info from BGG, but not, for example, any pictures or the designer and publisher info. It also fails to retrieve the director from imdb. I'll report these there and see if anyone else has noticed them here, because this is a useful app...

The version from the gcstar-dev ppa (https://launchpad.net/~gcstar/+archive/gcstar-dev) fixes all these problems. I'm going to see if there's a way to get it added to ubuntu backports.
