Bug Description
Copy/pasting a path is a frequent manoeuver, and Nautilus does not support direct pasting : one has to switch into text mode before. My suggestion : transforming the path bar into a editable breadcrumb. This would behave as an editable text field when you click in an empty part of the field, or when you right click on it (Paste option would be available), but would keep the breadcrumb behaviour by reinterpreting the content of the field after a content change. Directory levels would be displayed as links.
