Bug Description

Copy/pasting a path is a frequent manoeuver, and Nautilus does not support direct pasting : one has to switch into text mode before. My suggestion : transforming the path bar into a editable breadcrumb. This would behave as an editable text field when you click in an empty part of the field, or when you right click on it (Paste option would be available), but would keep the breadcrumb behaviour by reinterpreting the content of the field after a content change. Directory levels would be displayed as links.

Hi Sebastien,

I know the Copy/Paste action is *possible*, but what I meant is that it's not as easy as it should be : one has to switch into text mode (either by clicking on the "notepad-like" icon or pressing Ctrl+L. This should be possible using a single action (Paste) with no prealable action.

Moreover, shortcuts are ok for expert users, but I think we shall not rely on that to ensure a good usability : most people do know Ctrl+C (eventhough lots of basic users prefer using contextual menus), but I'd bet my hand that 90% users do not know Ctrl+L.

the users who don't know about ctrl-l or ctrl-c can click on the icon and right click on the path, copying paths is not a things user do every day anyway, could you send the bug to bugzilla.gnome.org where the software writers will read it if you care so much about that? that's not something the ubuntu team will work on

I think Sebastien's explanation is quite clear, why this isnt a papercut
