This report's summary is similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/389834 though the version number is different (28-13 instead of 28-12). I also checked out https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-common/+bug/273681 and tried some of the stuff in the comments with the same (bad) results.

I'm using the fglrx driver for my ATI HD 2600, which until now has had no problems.

I've kept the full log of the update in case it will help, but I removed the "successful" first section for this report.
