Bug Description

Hello!
I find a bug that make my life a little difficult, I hope you can help me

1. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04
2. I find the bug in the normal package of inkscape witch is 0.46-5ubuntu4, and 0.47~pre0-0ubuntu1~9.04
3. If i try to drag-and-drop a color from the bar with the palet on the bottom of inkscape to the color indicator of the line and the inside of the item, it changes that color with the one I choose.
4. Nothing happens when I drop the color, it even doesn't saw me the possibility to drop it.

What I know is that it has to be related with the use of docks like AWN, cairo-dock, or gnome-do docky they use composition, and they all allow to drag-and-drop items to them. If I place them in other places than in the bottom, I can drag-and-drop colors with no problem. The problem persist with metacity (with composition enable) and compiz.
The solution that I'm using right now is not to use docky (I love docky)

My English is no so god, so if you need further information pleas ask me.

Thank you moonbeam, it is related with composition, or with the possibility of awn to drag-and-drop?

Huitanot,

It's related to a drag and drop dead zone over the bar. Awn is there... you just can't see it. But it doesn't allow drag and drops to that area to fall through to the app underneat. I know that Docky, according to DBO (Docky dev), had fixed this issue - so you might just need a newer version of Do. I'm sure DBO will be along eventually with more detailed info.

I can confirm this behavior when using Intellihide (but not Autohide) with the latest bzr revision.

I am not sure what version of GNOME Do you are currently using. At least with the latest source version, you can switch Hiding in preferences of Docky to Autohide or None and it should work fine.

Since it's an AWN bug, I'm marking this as invalid :)

To be fair, it's not *just* Awn. But yeah, it's not an inkscape bug.

I recently install gnome-do 0.8.2 and with Intellihide it works well as I can tell.
Now there is no way I can work whit inkscape and docky on top of the window of inkscape maximize, in any of the three possibilities Intellihide, autohide, none (the last one doesn't let the window to maximize over the docky or under, so no possibility to reproduce the bug)(this makes another bug but from inkscape that is solve in the version that is coming out
If the window is not maximize the docky can be over the windows, but I can't reproduce the bug either, it works just fine.
I'll try with other computer to see if it also works fine.

I think that for gnome-do 0.8.2 this bug is solve.

with cairo-dock and awn I think it persist.

I'm marking invalid also for inkscape in Ubuntu.

Thank you all

I cannot reproduce this bug with cairo-dock maybe you are not using the correct behaviour for your dock appearance
