Bug Description

Easy Peasy version: Easy Peasy 1.5 beta
PC model and details: Asus Eee PC 901 4+16 GB SSD
Application: OpenOffice

I've noticed OpenOffice suddenly disappeared. This probably happened after updating language support. I noticed the same issue during previous test, when I installed EP 1.5 beta while connected to LAN and getting language updated automatically.

On the second test I first had half English and half Finnish desktop, and OpenOffice was available on Office tab. After language updates OpenOffice is no longer there.

UPDATE: According Synaptic OpenOffice is installed alright, but there's no shortcuts to it on office tab of UNR desktop.

I installed EP 1.5 beta again with the following results:

1. Installed EP 1.5 beta without Internet connection -> Desktop half Finnish and half English, but OpenOffice worked alright.
2. Connected to Interenet and used Update Manager and restarted PC because Update Manager requested to do so. -> Desktop still bilingual and OpenOffice OK.
3. Connected to Internet an used Language Support, which now said the language support is not complete, so I let it to update. -> Before restart Desktop still bilingual but shortcuts for OpenOffice on Office tab were now disappeared.
4. Restarted and checked again if there are any updates, none found, system up-to-date. -> Desktop ful Finnish but no shortcuts to OpenOffice anywhere.

I finally fucked up the whole system installed on USB key, after trying to reboot it several times. I had a several errors, including "unable to enumarate device in port 1 and 5". Finally getting "UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN FSCK MANUALLY". I tried to check if all the same OpenOffice pacakeges installed on live installer would also be on my messed up installation, as dispalyed on attached image.

Test #4:

1) Running live installer while connected online and seem to work just fine.
2) When starting OS installed on external USB key, "Unable to enumarate..." displayed twice but then everything went okay.
3) EP theme missing?
4) GUI full Finnish and OpenOffice installed but notice for uncomplite Language Support popped out automatically right after connecting online.
5) OpenOffice once again disappeared after Language Support was Finished.

See attached image and compare it to image posted on my previous report to see what is different in OpenOffice installation.

Is this still a problem in the final easypeasy 1.5 release?

If you do a new install of EasyPeasy 1.5 from CD, you will get OpenOffice.org 3.1 with Calc, Writer, Impress and Draw but no Base (database component). If you try to add Base, then it tries to remove the other OpenOffice.org 3.1 components. You are then faced with the option of installing OpenOffice 3.0, but will be unable to do so because 3.0 components are missing. Someone needs to straighten out the versions in the repository so everything matches and the complete OpenOffice.org 3.1 suite can be installed.
