Bug Description

If you rotate the cube, there's the same list of running applications on every desktop until you stay at the desktop you wish to use. Then the window list (panel applet) refreshes (showing only running application which are shown on the desktop), but again shows on all desktops until you confirm to use another.

Bug 385446 is about the panel _never_ updating after switching desktops. This bug is about the window list not updating until you finish switching desktops. This bug is not possible to fix as gnome-panel only has _one_ window that shows on all desktops so you can't show two desktops on a cube and have them show different window lists.

Fixing this would require changing the entire way panels work in X11, not likely to ever happen.

Changed in compiz (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
Changed in hundredpapercuts:
status: New → Invalid

Travis Watkins: I don't agree with you. Even if I disable compiz and use
metacity, I still have an option to make more desktops and switch
between them. On any desktop can be opened a window, which is displayed
only on the desktop's panel, not on any other's. And even if compiz is
turned on, it knows which window is opened on which desktop, so it
should also know which windows should be displayed on every panel. If
it's not gnome-panel's concern, then compiz has to do something with
this. But why should be this set to invalid?!

You only have one panel window. That window shows on all desktops. There is not a separate panel window on each desktop. Therefore you cannot have compiz showing two desktops and see a different window list on each desktop. It is simply not possible because the panel you are seeing on each desktop is the _same_ window.
