After upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic (with the latest updates) I have the same problem. But only while playing youtube or other Flash videos. Every couple of minutes the entire screen goes blank for a second but sound is still playing.

I've tested it with Firefox 3.5.3 and Midori 0.1.9 with Flash 10.0r32

I have the same problem, using an external LCD monitor with Ubuntu 9.04

OS: Ubuntu 9.04
System: HP/Compaq nw8440
Monitor: HP LP2065

It *appears* to happen most often on browser pages (Firefox or Chrome) that dynamically update. So, not at all for static pages, but it goes nuts (sometimes blacking out for many seconds) on certain kinds of pages as noted above. Does not effect laptop screen (I run split-screen, workspace spread between the two).

Everything is the latest...

Thanks!
