Bug Description
I just updated my karmic kernel to whatever is the latest as of June 20, 2009 and now my computer is continuously trying to read from my floppy drive.
It produces a constant "clicking" from the floppy drive (presumably as the drive keeps moving). Note: there is no floppy disk in the drive. A sampling of my syslog shows the following:
Jun 20 15:29:44 babylon kernel: [ 643.608032] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Jun 20 15:29:46 babylon kernel: [ 645.608064] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Jun 20 15:29:48 babylon kernel: [ 647.612032] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Jun 20 15:29:50 babylon kernel: [ 649.608032] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Jun 20 15:29:52 babylon kernel: [ 651.608042] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Jun 20 15:29:54 babylon kernel: [ 653.608063] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Jun 20 15:29:56 babylon kernel: [ 655.608031] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
Jun 20 15:29:58 babylon kernel: [ 657.608031] end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0
I watched the syslog and the messages line up with the clicking like clockwork.

I have just upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 on 20th June and can confirm this bug exactly as described. I tried putting a floppy in the drive and the system appeared to read it a few times and then hung completely (needed a power cycle).
