Bug Description

Binary package hint: audacious

Package: Audacious 2.0.1, Audacious-plugins 2.0.1 + associated packages, Karmic build.

Audacious should play the stream, but it doesn't. When run from the terminal, I get the following output. This is done on a live CD environment, but also happens on an installed system.

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ audacious2

Either the neon library doesn't understand streams, or libmad can't handle streams. Audacious 1.5.1 does work.

Version 1.5 is the only one that works properly, but there are some other things wrong with it (truncates stream names when a single quote is detected). I was hoping Audacious v2 would solve this, but I can't even test it.

Ok, I tried it again with a different stream server, and now it does play correctly. How odd. The only difference that I know of, is that I now connected to a 192k stream, instead of the usual 320k.

Now all that I need to know, is if the problem I just noted with 1.5.x is fixed in it. I so hope it is.

Updated my other system. Same symptoms: not able to play a 320k stream, but 192k does work. It might be that version 2.0.1 was able to play the streams, but just not the 320k stream.

The problem with the single quote is also gone.

The only bug that remains, is the problem of playing 320k streams. I haven't tried other streams that play at 320k.

What stream from where?

Unfortunately, the 320k stream I used to listen to is offline. The latest version of Audacious, 2.2.0, has none of the problems I had before. I grabbed the version from getdeb.net. The following issues I used to have are fixed in 2.2.0:
- Title cut of when encountered single quote character ('): happens on versions prior to 2.0.0 (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacious/+bug/358317)
- Unable to play 320k streams with 2.0.1, 2.1.0 did play them (this bugreport)
- Stream title in playlist not updated until external update trigger (change windowshade mode, hit a key like esc or arrows): happens on 2.1.0. (never reported)

True. I found this page via Shoutcast: http://www.radiocarolinegold.eu/ . 192k works, but not 320k.
Did you say this was fixed in your getdeb 2.2.0 ?

Sasquatch (sasquatch) wrote :

Yes, 2.2.0 does not have a problem with 320k streams or anything. None that I had or have encountered yet.

Awesome. Then I'll guess we'll wait until Ubuntu update Audacious to 2.2 for Lucid and mark this bug as fixed released.
