Bug Description
If I select suspend or sleep at the Options-menu (lower left corner in the gdm greeter) before I have been logged in I get the confirmation message 'are you sure...' but nothing else happens - except that after the confirmation message I get 'Authentication failed'.
So I can't get the machine do the Sleep or Suspend without logging in.
However Shutdown works as expected, even from the greeter.

I can confirm this here, sleep and suspend don't work from the GDM screen, both work after logging in and with keyboard shortcuts (everything on Dapper).
This bug seems to be a duplicate of Bug #3642
