Solution -

Removed broken packages sun-java6-jre 6-13-1 using Synaptic.

Also removed the manually installed Sun Java package of jdk-6u14-linux-i586.bin from directory /usr/lib/jvm/.

Restarted the system and did a fresh install of sun-java6-jre 6-13-1 and sun-java6-jdk 6-13-1.

Currently there is no reported broken package error.
