Bug Description

When the nm-applet is connected to a WLAN and you turn the Router off, Ubuntu still tries to connect to this network, although iwlist scan doesnt show the WLAN. After nm-applet tried to connect again and failed, the Network-Chooser-Dialog appears in front of all windows and disrupt people.

What is the paper cut? Is this a common scenario? What is the flawed user experience, and how would user experience be improved if this were fixed?

I would say, this scenario doesnt apply to all of the users.

It would improve the user experience, because after it tried to reconnect and failed, the Network-Chooser-Dialog appears in front of all windows and disrupt people from their work.

Thank you that is much more specific. Unnecessary popups are certainly a usability issue. Could you update your description in the bug report and include a screenshot please?

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. Losing power to your router does not address a common user scenario.
