Bug Description

I'm using Ubuntu Jaunty and Shutter 0.70.2. I have two applications open: Firefox and Open Office. With both programs maximised and Firefox as the window on top, if I use Capture With Selection to take a screenshot of a section in Firefox OpenOffice steals focus. The only workaround I have right now is to minmise OpenOffice whenever I want to take a screenshot

Thanks for your bug report, Antonio.

This is a general issue that occurs if two windows have the same size and position. Shutter just takes the first window it detects instead of the visible one.
Maybe we should only allow to select user-visible windows in window selection mode? But maybe It is possible to get the stacking order of the windows (need to investigate here)...

What do you think?

I think you should investigate the stacking order of the windows but until then working on using the visible window. It's not a major bug, just a minor annoyance

Yes, I've noticed the stacking issue as well.

A solution would be to allow the user to circle through the stacked windows.
How about a right-click will move the top window to be last? Such that
right-clicking one or several times will get you the window you'd like.

I've committed a fix for that bug. Shutter now respects the stacking order of the windows and selects the top one (z-axis).

Cycling through the windows using the mouse is not implemented yet. Please open a new wishlist bug for this if this functionality is needed (this more complex).
