Changing color for multi-line text

The color selection widget in Fill and Stroke goes mad when you try to change the color of a text for a character range spanning multiple lines.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a new document.
2. Create a text object by selecting the text tool and clicking on the canvas.
3. Start typing the first line.
4. Press enter to go to the next line and write it.
5. Select characters on both lines in one selection.
6. Try changing the color using the Fill and Stroke.

Reproducible: always
Tested on: Fedora 10, reported on Windows.
Versions affected: 0.46, pre-release of 0.47.

Confirmed on Ubuntu 9.04, Inkscape 0.46-5ubuntu4 and rev. 21615.
Using a palette works well.

Reproduced again on Windows XP, Inkscape trunk revision 12387.

Please verify changing the color of a single line of text. See the attached screenshot for more details. I'm using 48.99.12779 OS/X 10.9 with pixels as default text units and always output as pixels.
