Bug Description

As it stands now one has to use the return key to open sub folders after navigating with the up and down key. But if the left and right arrows are able to open and close it will make navigation easier and natural.

But there is a problem with the tree view. It tries to open *files* in nautilus while moving down the list of files using arrow keys! which the Nautilus should not.
Rather the item selected should just change , and the enter key should open the file.
I think this is the reason the arrow keys are at present not allowed.

So for this to work, the no-auto open needs to be fixed, and that is a separate bug. Unless that is worked out, this bug cannot be fixed.

*But I'm confirming this bug,for a later fix, because the behavior can bring better usability* .

So maybe the people interested in this bug could file a separate bug for what i have mentioned.

Just realized for a dup that Shift+left/right Key works, but still the arrows should do the same action, And the nautilus should not try to open files in nautilus.

Not a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/307713
But from what I understand from the description, this bug is fixed now, one way or another. In the Nautilus list view, I can open and close directories with the right and left arrow keys.
I am therefore closing this bug now.
