Bug Description
If you change the default screen resolution to a smaller one (for example while playing a game at lower resolution than the desktop) the applets in gnome-panel usually change their position. This is specially true when some applet is configured to stay in the middle of the panel, with no other applet surrounding it.
In my experience, most people places their applets in the right of the panel or in the middle of it, so the position should be referenced to the right side of the screen and relative to the actual resolution (so the position is constant in resolution changes), and there should be an option that centers the desired applets.
In my opinion, this is a candidate for the One Hundred Paper Cuts project.
It also happens a lot when changing resolution on a laptop for dual screen.
This is a great candidate for the One Hundred Paper Cuts project
