Bug Description

I tried to install ubuntu 8.04 from live CD to my 80 GB primary hard drive. The installer allows to choose the timezone and the keyboard layout. After that, it scans the disk for partitions, which seems to take unusually long. But after that i get a message box that reads "??? ???". I cant make out anything of that. Upon checking the system log, i find a message that reads
"Jun 14 22:55:33 ubuntu kernel: [ 1261.842740] parted_server[9701]: segfault at 005c3182 eip b7f3dc87 esp bfaa6690 error 4"

Thats the end of it. It wont move forth after this error.

If you can reproduce this on 12.04+, please attach the full system log, and output of parted -l.
