Bug Description

Every few seconds, when running the latest kernel (2.6.30-9-generic) Linux appears to think that there is a floppy that it can't read from. I have attached the output of dmesg and I used "ubuntu-bug -p linux" to report this.
When I am typing, however, output of this doesn't occur, however, when I am not typing, every 8 seconds, this appears on a tty (not in gnome-terminal, however).
This does not interfere with the command I am typing. For example, if I were to be typing "/etc/init.d/g" and I pause right there, the message pops up, and I finish with "dm restart" It would run just fine.
The problem also occurs while using a text editor such as nano. The text would appear in the lines that are being edited, however, if I move the cursor over top of them, they go back to what is actually in the text file.

I am running a Thinkpad T43 with 1 GB RAM, 40 GB HDD, 1.86 GHz Pentium M Processor. There is no floppy drive built in.
This bug does not exist in old kernel versions (2.6.24 is the earliest kernel version I remember. I first started using Ubuntu at Hardy).

By the way, I'm running Karmic Alpha 2. I don't think I wrote that before.
