Feature request: Outline text with a color border

I want to enable a color outline border around the text in the display window. Is there a way to do this with VTE?

If not, may I request this feature? Text with a contrasting border is easier to read when displayed on a background with varying colors. For example: http://www.vulomedia.com/images/58491borderedtext.png

If there is no possibility of fulfilling this request, I would like to get some help with trying to do this on my own. For modifying the text display, it would be very helpful to have some suggestions about where in the source code to begin looking.

Update to the situation. I have managed to write the outline text feature for version 0.20. I will be updating to the latest stable versions and then submitting patches for inclusion in the official code base.

I am mentioning this because I do not want any developers to use their time writing something with is essential done (by me) at this point.
