In a regression from 2.0.2, Amarok no longer detects compilation albums correctly. I end up with a separate artist in the collection for each track in the compliation. Sometimes this occurred in 2.0.2 but I was always able to fix it by selecting just one of the tracks and choosing 'Show Under Various Artists' - this would then move every track from that compilation into the Various artists section. But now it moves only that one track. When I go through them all and do this I then get a separate entry under Various Artists for each track.

This worked in 2.0.2, and in 1.4.

I'm not sure I understand what the issue is, Mark. Do you have an album where there is a different artist for each track, and then when you sort your collection by artist it shows all of those artists? I believe that is expected behavior, though I could be wrong.

Please describe how the album with the problem has its artist tags set up, and the unexpected behavior Amarok gives. Thanks!

The tags have a different artist for every track but the album name is the same. In the past, Amarok was clever enough to recognise this as a compilation album and display it under 'Various Artists'. As far as I'm concerned, this is correct behaviour (Amarok 1.4 did it perfectly every time).

So what it does now is display each track as a separate 'Album' when I sort by Artist. I can choose the 'album' and select 'Display Under Various Artists' and this moves it to Various Artists - so I do this for every other track from this compilation. There are 12 tracks on this album. Having selected 'Show Under Various Artists' for every track, I look under 'Various Artists' and now I have 12 copies of the album, each with all 12 tracks. Doesn't matter how you look at it, that's not right.

Thanks for the extra description, Mark. This is the same bug as bug 319494, so I'm going to mark this one a duplicate of that. Please continue future discussion on that page.

Thanks!
