Bug Description

PC : DELL inspiron 531
OS : Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron
Kernel : 2.6.24-24-generic

Most of the features seem to work but the resume after suspend function does not. Every time after the PC is suspended a reboot is required to bring back the PC as it does not resume when the power button is pressed. The screen remains black and no response to key board or mouse events. But the hard disk seems to make some noise but thats it.
Similar bug reports exists but not for DELL 531 desktops hence a new bug report.
Kindly let me know what kind information is required for debugging this issue.

This bug was reported against the linux-meta package when it likely should have been reported against the linux package instead. We are automatically transitioning this to the linux kernel package so that the appropriate teams are notified and made aware of this issue.

If this bug really is a bug in the linux-meta package you can move it back to linux-meta and set the Status to Confirmed, or contact us on the #ubuntu-kernel channel on the FreeNode IRC server. Thanks.

affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest Karmic 9.10 release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If the issue remains, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) while running Karmic. It
will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report.

apport-collect -p linux 386658

Thanks in advance
