Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

When a File on a FAT filesystem is read-only, it's is read only for owner, group and others in linux. But when I try to use nautilus to change it, it does not work, so I have to go to the terminal, which is getting on my nerves. By the way, I'm using the detailed permission view of nautilus.

The filesystems are mountet with shortname=mixed,codepage=850,utf8,uid=1000,gid=0,umask=0111,dmask=0000

Fix please.

Sorry, I don't know more about this bug than I already posted. Create a FAT32 file system, set a file read-only, mount the file system with the parameters given in my first post (they should be okay I think), and try to set the file writeable with nautilus.

Does changing the umask and dmask values to something less restrictive help you?

No. The is already mounted with "uid=1000,umask=0111,dmask=0000", but if a file is set read only in the filesystem, it is also write protected with linux for all users. This especialy happens to the "My Documents" and related Windows-System folders, after Windows has done changes to them. Running "chmod -R a+w" oder "chmod -R 777" on these directorys or just the whole partition always helps, but I would like to see it working with nautilus also.
