Binary package hint: ubiquity

Karmic alpha 2 installer crashes and fails while trying to install grub 2, also tried todays daily image which does exactly the same and also gives an error if I try to install grub-legacy instead

Same here. Not sure whether it is important that I was using ext4.

How come the importance level is only "Medium"? The system fails to install due to this bug and there are plenty of people having this problem.

Ben,
Are you able to reproduce this in the latest daily-live CD (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live)? If so, can you please uncomment (remove the # mark) the set -x line near the top of /usr/share/grub-installer/grub-installer and try again? When it fails, please attach /var/log/syslog, /var/log/installer/debug, and /var/log/partman.

Evan, FWIW, in my duplicate bug 387409 it happened outside of grub-installer, already in the manual partitioning.

This bug can be closed now, problem was fixed before Karmic was released
