openoffice menus often are almost or totally blank

when i open openoffice menus, menu voices often disappear or become invisible as i move the mouse pointer over them.

ubuntu 9.04 running on dell vostro 1310 with nvidia GeForce 8400M GS graphic card.

Which theme are you using? Can you reproduce that when using different themes?

This is the theme configuration used in the first screenshot i attached:

* gtk theme: Nodoka-rounded
* window decoration: inverted
* icon theme: gnome-wise

in the two pictures i attach here i reproduced the bug also in themes Human and Clearlooks (quite "standard" themes).

i notice that, although using these themes (human and clearlooks) the bug is present, it comes out much more rarely.

This is a bug in the nvidia graphics driver.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. This is a driver-level bug, not a trivial usability issue.

I've posted a new version of the -nvidia driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
