Ubuntu karmic is not reboot nor shut down

Bug Description

On selecting "reboot" / "shut down" I get many duplicated messages "the system will reboot NOW!" & "the system will shut down NOW!" but nothing really happen: It's just stays like that.

Please solve!

Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10
Desktop 2009-06-10
I expected reboot or computer turned off, but it stays on: white font on black screen.

It happened to live version, USB in my case. I choose to reboot or shut down, but it stays like that.
it doesn't happened in the installed version.

I reproduce the bug with the karmic release, but it don't happend again.
