Bug Description
Binary package hint: partman-auto-raid
While testing karmic alpha2 with a preseed using partman-auto-raid to setup a raid1 array, the installation failed to complete with the following error message:
Can't have a partition outside the disk!
The same preseed used with the amd64 iso leads to a successful installation.

Thanks for your report. This is the same as your bug 287571; as there, removing $primary{ } is a workaround.
