Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Dear friends,

When one tries to create an IMAP directory that has a dot in it's name, he gets an error message at the buttom (where all the processes are).

I think that if the IMAP specifications disallow dots, then the user should be confronted with an error dialog when trying to do so.

Many blessings.

thank you for your bug report, your description does say you get an error no so what else do you want to get?

Dear Sebastien,

attached is what one sees when he clicks the create button.

The error message is at the bottom. One has to notice it and then to click it in order to get a dialog which explains to him that he can't use a dot.

I think that it is better to display a dialog straight away.

Many blessings.

the evolution team moved away from spawning dialogs for every message and decided to put those in the status bar to be less annoying to the users, that's a design decision rather than a bug and should be discussed with the software writters on bugzilla.gnome.org rather than with the distributor on launchpad

closing since that's not a bug but an upstream decision
