Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

My Buddys can't see that I'm online. I can see their right status and chat with them. But for them I stay invisible. I doesn't matter on what I set the status.
They can as well send me messages and see my avatar.

thank you for your bug report, not confirming the issue, maybe they didn't request authorization to add you to their list correctly or you changed an option

I've tested it with a second PC and another ICQ account (Ubuntu 9.04, Empathy as ICQ-Client). I've added the account in question, but it stayed invisible. Like my buddys reported messaging is possible, avatar is visible. Just the status isn't shown correctly.

It seems to be a problem of empathy. Users who are using the original icq-client can see me. I will post a new bug report against empathy.

I can confirm this on a pidgin-pidgin basis. I can't see a Windows user who can see me. The authorization can hardly be the problem. It works smoothly with others using Miranda, the original ICQ client, Kopete and so on :(.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 9.04 reached EOL on 2010-10-23.
