firefox freezes for a few seconds on cold start

Bug Description

When i start firefox, it freezes for a few seconds when loading some site and the hard disk light glows as if its trying to search something .It happens for about 10 seconds on average and it happens every single time i do a cold start ,i.e.start firefox on starting my PC.

Iam on 64 bit jaunty .I dont have any java plugins loaded as of now.But it happens even if i install icedtea or openjdk.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Do you know what website you are freezing on? Have you tried a new profile yet? You don't have to delete your old profile to test.

I freeze on all websites . Its standard behaviour whenever i start firefox in the day . Iam using the default profile and i dont have any add ons enabled.

Thank you, could you please try starting Firefox in safe mode to see if the crashing still occurs?

Its not a crash . All tabs take a sec or two to switch to. Pictures scroll very slow with jerks.

My system is amd 64 x2 4400 with 1 gb ram.
