Bug Description
Changes tab in Update Manager says "Failed to detect distribution" when updating a package from a ppa in Ubuntu 9.04.
This does not happen with package updates from Ubuntu repositories.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Add a ppa to sources.list which contains a newer version of an installed program, e.g. transmissionbt
2. Check for updates
3. Look at changes tab in description of update. Instead of a changelog there is the 'failed to detect..' text
I don't know if this is a bug in update manager, apt or launchpad. I discovered it in update manager - so I'm putting the bug report here.
This bug does not affect the update process, the only thing missing is the changelog.
