halt suspend and reboot commands do not work. console and exit work though.

Bug Description
Binary package hint: slim
The title pretty much says it all. Slim just asks for a password when I enter halt, suspend or reboot into the login field. console and exit work fine. I tried editing /etc/slim.conf to change the commands to /sbin/halt and /sbin/reboot or even sudo /sbin/halt, etc. without success.
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04.2 and slim 1.2.6-1.
