strange error on uploaded file

The below was reported to us by a user. If you click on the file "Chiquita Farm Support February 2008," you get a General KARL error screen. Here's the folder URL: https://karl.soros.org/communities/sedf/files/chiquita-banana.

Sorry to bother you with this, but fyi I have been having a lot of trouble uploading the attached file to SEDF community on KARL (specifically in “Chiquita Bananas” folder under Wiki – Sierra Leone. I don’t know if this is related to a bug with the new version of KARL, so for that reason I thought to email you. You will see on the community that there are two attempts to upload.

started working on it. I think he might have already fixed it, but

I believe Chris already worked on this OverflowError. Chris, feel free to update its status.

Well, there are two components to this issue, of which I have fixed one.

The component which I fixed has to do with the file view blowing up for files that are 0 bytes. The next time we update svn, the error page should be gone and we should see an uploaded file that is 0 bytes.

The second component, which I haven't investigate yet is why are we getting 0 byte files to begin with? Is there something strange going on with upload? I will look at this shortly.

I have tested with Firefox and a couple of different versions of IE and cannot reproduce the 0 length file problem.

Zero length files are displayed properly. I tested with IE7 and the attached file and could not reproduce whatever error caused the file to be empty in the first place.

I'm able to download the (empty) Powerpoint file without getting a KARL error. However, the question remains whether we should get a migrated 0 byte file or not.

I tried logging in as nborland on karldev and he doesn't have permission to that community. I'll leave this as open and see if Nat can test further.

According to the bug report, it was not a migrated file, but a newly
uploaded file. I tried to reproduce the problem and was unable to.

Paul and I both tried to reproduce this as well, but couldn't. The file
has been re-uploaded on live KARL and seems to be working fine for now.
We'll just have to keep our eye out to see if it happens again.
