Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
When reporting out-of-date package information, a notification icon appears. The text when hovering over this icon is:
The update information is outdated. This may be caused by network problem or by repository that is no longer available. Please update manually by clicking on this icon and then selecting 'Check for updates' and check if some of the listed repositories fail.
However, after clicking on the icon to launch Update Manager, the text of the button is merely 'Check' rather than 'Check for updates'.

The 'real' bug is that this notification appears on a manually updated system via terminal command 'apt-get update'.
os: Ubuntu 9.10 fully updated (28-Dec-09) 2.6.31-17-generic #54 (i386)
update-manager: 1:0.126.9
aptitude: 0.4.11.11-1ubuntu6
apt: 0.7.23.1ubuntu2
I am using 'manual' updates for my system using the terminal command:
sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude dist-upgrade
Although I am updating daily, 'The update information is outdated...' notification appears after some days. Possibly there is no cooperation between aptitude and update-manager.
I am attaching a descriptive screen capture.

George
