Icons on desktop not fixed

Ubuntu Dapper flight 5, updates as of now (2.6.15-20-386)

Ubuntu creates desktop icons for disk devices on start up. These icons should stay in a fixed position on multiple boots.

In fact they keep moving, mainly overlaying each other.
