Bug Description
Hi :)
It seems that the dynamically-linked skype package (or, perhaps more accurately, the qt binaries which come from the main Ubuntu repos?) is/are missing jpeg support. Following a suggestion I found here (http://
I guess it might not be possible to fix the lack of jpeg support with the dynamically-linked version (although if it is it would be good, of course), but I suspect that the static version could be fixed to avoid the escaping problem.
If someone were able to look into this I, and perhaps others, would be grateful.
Thanks,
Simon

Hi,
Thanks for your bug report.
Have you been able to test on a more recent version of skype? In jaunty and karmic, we added some hacks to skype 2.1.0.47 for avatar support on amd64, maybe it solved you issue... About your encoding issue wrt skype-static, I'm afraid there's nothing we can do, it's probably the way they compiled it.
