Checkout appears not to complete with lingering status message

I did some lightweight checkouts and found that the checkout actually completed, but the cursor stayed on the line that is displaying the status. As such, it is never obvious that the checkout completed. Here are two examples with a carrot inserted in the position where the cursor sat:
