Actually vinagre has the checkbox "Show menu shortcuts" in the preferences dialog. This should be removed unless very good reason as this breaks the consistency among the gnome applications.

There is indeed a good reason for this, even if "this breaks the consistency among the gnome applications." as without this checkbox, vinagre is totally useless for accessing applications such as emacs that use the control-keys that vinagre used to claim for itself. Please, please, please, for the love of god, please. Don't break it again.
