Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

When I send music to my ipod with banshee, it simply copies de original files. If they are mp3, it works. But most of my files are vorbis files (.oga) and the ipod doesn't handle them. The ipod can see the albums, but is unable to play them. The files on the ipod are correctly copied and end up with names like ABCD.oga. There is no error/warning message in the console.

This may be the same bug as 337075, but as I have no error message, I prefered to file a new one.
I tried to run banshee in debug mode to get something, but there is not a single line displayed when triggering the transfer.

ProblemType: Bug

SourcePackage: banshee
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-12-generic i686
UnreportableReason: This is not a genuine Ubuntu package

I see only after reporting that I was using a ppa package for banshee, so I removed it and installed the ubuntu one. But I have the exact same behavior. I tried to use ubuntu-bug to generate a new report, but when I click on the "yes this is the bug I'm trying to submit", LP tells me "This bug is already marked as affecting you.".

So, I confirm I have the bug with banshee from jaunty: 1.4.3-3ubuntu2

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Could you post the output of 'banshee --debug' all the same? Also, could you attempt to reproduce this bug on Banshee 1.5.0, found in the Banshee Unstable PPA (https://launchpad.net/~banshee-unstable-team/+archive/ppa)?

here is the log of banshee --debug.
I started banshee and waited for it to stop doing anything. I added a [AFTER START] in the log to indicate this. Then I transfered an ogg file to the ipod (I get only one line in the log... which does not seem very useful).

I'm going to test banshee 1.5.0 from ppa now.

Thanks,
Marc
