Bug Description

Can't tell whether it is a problem with kvm or with X:

host is running Xubuntu Jaunty with newest version of kvm.
Commandline:

sudo /usr/bin/kvm -M pc -m 1024 -smp 2 -name intrepid_desktop -uuid 9f22b550-ab2a-a515-299d-c0820f7828bb -boot c -drive file=/dev/mapper/server_blech-intrepid_desktop,if=ide,index=0,boot=on -drive file=/dev/cdrom,if=ide,media=cdrom,index=2 -net nic,macaddr=00:16:36:52:90:81,model=virtio,vlan=0 -net tap,script=,vlan=0,downscript=no -parallel none -usb -vga std

Guest runs Ubuntu Jaunty. While both were Intrepid, I could use full screen resolution 1680x1050 with VESA driver. Now only cirrus works.

Attached is output from ubuntu-bug -p xorg.

This is probably a duplicate of bug 356133.

When I use `BusID "PCI:0:2:0"` in xorg.conf (as this bug's conf does), then my Xorg.0.log contains the error shown in this bug report, `(EE) VESA(0): Cannot read V_BIOS (3) Input/output error`. Without the BusID configured, it produces the messages that appear in the other bug (old probe method warning, and no devices error).
