Bug Description
I am running ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) with KDE4 with a Microsoft wireless Desktop 6000 (v2).
I configured some keyboard shortcuts to start custom applications [2] and they all work well until I terminate the KDE session and log in again.
If I do so, three configured keys [1] do not start any application. In "System settings" -> "Keyboard" -> "global shortcuts" (menus are possibly named similar, I use a non-english installation), all keys appear configured correctly.
If I
- configure the three disfunctional actions to any other key,
- hit "apply",
- configure the actions back to my favourite keys and
- hit "apply" again,
all works well for the current session.
If I configure the same action to other keys, everything works well after starting a new session.
Until fixed somehow, I have to reconfigure these three keys everytime I start a new KDE session.
[1] Two out of the three keys are located within a set of six keys to the left. They are labeled with pictures showing a phone (lower right) and a document (upper left). The last key is below the six-key-panel, is labeled with a gead and something like "Mini Application" (translated by me). It is to the right of to zooml keys.
[2] I configured [1] to start following applicatione: Dolphin, Konsole and Prism

Interesting, back-to-back keyboard issues I am triaging this evening. I am wondering if you may be experiencing an issue with using modifiers (alt, shift, ctrl) with these? I have keys similar, like one to open a web browser, email, and such and they all work fine, and I didn't even have to configure those.
As a matter of fact, I think the other keyboard issue tonight was on a MS keyboard, possibly the same one. Of course it is burried somewhere here under the kdebase-workspace bugs, so if I get a chance I will double check it. thanks!
